🎶Guess who’s back? Back again. The podcast is 🎶Guess who’s back? Back again. The podcast is back. Tell a friend!

We are starting off 2023 strong by bringing the podcast back!

I never intended to take such a long break, but life happens 🫠🫣

I love to write (obviously), but I have a mega soft spot for my podcast. It’s so much fun to record (maybe because I’m actually naturally a very quiet person).

It only feels right to bring the podcast back with the trendy topic of 5 thoughts as pet owners that we are leaving behind in 2022.

2023 is the year to leave behind those negative thoughts so that you can do more with your dog, advocate for them, and just live better lives together.

What are you leaving behind in 2022?

✨2023✨ If you don’t walk with your dog in t ✨2023✨

If you don’t walk with your dog in the woods on New Years Day, are you even celebrating New Years Day correctly?

The past 1.5 weeks have been nothing but stress and worry. It felt nice to walk in the woods on a freakishly warm day and at least momentarily have zero stress and anxiety.

Buster is doing much better, and I’ve done a lot of reflecting the past couple weeks and have some high hopes for 2023!

I do have a couple of Buster/dog specific goals in 2023!
✅Provide some form of enrichment daily, even if it’s a Kong or a 5 minute treat scatter in the grass.
✅Set up a fitness journal and quality of life tracker for Buster. He’ll be 11 in March 😭, and staying flexible and mobile is one of the most important things for aging dogs.
✅Start a dog book club! (This IS coming in 2023! You can head to the link in my bio to fill out my dog book club form if you want more info!)

Basically, I want to focus on his physical condition and keeping his mind sharp. As he gets older, these are the things that will keep him in tip top shape and keep him young and spunky.

Do you have any specific goals for your dog? Tell me!
Today is 10 weeks seizure free for Buster, and I f Today is 10 weeks seizure free for Buster, and I finally feel like I am starting to float back down to earth.

Seizures and epilepsy in dogs is a whole other level of anxiety and madness that you don’t understand unless you live with it.

It’s truly a fearful life. You wake up terrified it might happen while you’re gone. You go to sleep terrified you’ll be woken up in the middle of the night to one. You can’t even so much as change your laundry detergent without the fear that a new one might cause your dog to have a seizure.

It freaking sucks. And in most cases, epilepsy and seizures are manageable. Your dog can live a long life with occasional seizures, but that fear and the “what if” will never go away. But obviously, the goal is always as few seizures as possible for as long as possible, and it can become an obsession to fixate on what to do to get to that point.

So today, I am very happy for my little dog and will scream from the damn rooftops about the power of holistic medicine.

📚A virtual dog book club ‼️ I am on an int 📚A virtual dog book club ‼️

I am on an intentional kick to read more and Netflix less. I’ve been reading tons of thrillers lately (which is good!), but yet, my TBR shelf of dog books just keeps growing (which is sad!)

Then I realized a book club is exactly what I need!

I’ve always wanted to join a book club but have never found one with jives with me. So now, I’m thinking of launching one!

This book club would focus on dog books only, but the topics would change from month to month.

Of course, the heart of a book club is in the people! I really want this to be a fun, engaging, friendly, welcoming, and chatty place. The goal isn’t just to read and learn more but to also become friends with likeminded dog lovers!

If this sounds like something you’re interested in, please fill out my survey! I need input from you in order to launch this thing!

✳️Please share this with all of your book & dog loving friends! The more the merrier!

‼️Link to the survey is in my bio‼️

🎉 Unpack our @vivarawpets order with me! When 🎉 Unpack our @vivarawpets order with me!

When I tell you I have practically cried happy tears of gratefulness that these people and this company exists, I’m not exaggerating 🥹

Buster has insane food allergies because of mast cell cancer. Can you guess how many raw brands have a rabbit blend, with no other animal protein, and no carrots? (He’s allergic to other things but EVERYTHING has carrots so that’s the determining factor 😭)

The answer is 1 🙃 Primal. Primal is a fabulous brand that I 110% support and fed, but for it to work for Buster, I had to add other things. One of those being boneless ground rabbit, which is impossible to get these days 🫠.

🆘After many panic attacks of what I was going to feed Buster, Viva Raw came to the rescue. There are other ground rabbit meats on the market, but I didn’t feel great about their sourcing.

Viva products are:
✅human grade
✅super fresh
✅single ingredient protein
✅They’re also incredibly transparent with their processes and so nice.

Now we’re feeding the ground rabbit in an NRC balanced recipe with kale, broccoli, butternut squash, blueberries, and some other things.

I finally have 100% complete control over ingredients for the allergy monster himself 🥰

I also got beef and turkey to try out if I get brave one day. He’s such an allergy mess that he had a seizure after trying duck once 😭🫠

📦 I even spent a couple minutes raving about the high quality packaging to my husband. You know a company is good when their cardboard box and packing materials are impressive 😂

Not an ad. Just grateful AF that at least one, mega high quality, single ingredient, transparent company with good customer service exists 🥹
Obviously, my little environmental hippie heart ha Obviously, my little environmental hippie heart has to do a post on Earth Day!

Did you know that there are things you can do as a dog owner to help the earth?

1️⃣Support your local stores, farms, and co-ops. Not only is the quality better, but you’re supporting a small business. These owners and workers genuinely care about the product they offer and you as a customer. You cannot beat the level of customer service these places provide!

2️⃣The quick and easy thing to do today is to just get outside on a walk. If you want something a little more longterm, consider planting a tree or flowering plant or even a herb for your dog! You could even put a dog-safe herb on your patio that deters bugs like mosquitoes!

3️⃣Use biodegradable poop bags or re-use your plastic grocery bags. A lot of bags that claim to be biodegradable actually don’t degrade for years 😔 @earthrated even makes compostable bags now, but be sure to only use pet waste compost on non-edible plants.

4️⃣Support businesses that are committed to environmental responsibility. @westpawus is one of my favorite companies for this reason! Did you know they have a recycling program? You can turn in chewed up toys so that they can grind them into new products!

What other dog owner specific sustainability tips do you have?
